Default cloth interior of roof dropping

Hi, The interior cloth of my roof on an 84 hardtop has separated and hangs down, dragging on my head when I amsitting in the car. How can this be re-glued to the roof? Will spray advesive work, or can it be peeled back and then glued with some sort of adhesive?

Thanks.

Hey there, 3M has a spray headliner adhesive, but if the backing that the cloth attaches to is dried out and crumbled you have to remove the loose crap. The adhesive will only work on a smooth clean surface. If you want just to replace the whole panel w/ a factory reproduction try Ecklers part # 42799

If you have about a day to spend on it, just replace the headliner. Remove all the molding from the edges and the interior light, then the whole board will come out. Remove the old headliner and go to upholstery shop, purchase enough length ofheadliner material and 3M spray glue. Attach new headliner to board with glue and then put back in car. Sounds complicated, but it is simple if you can find the time, material cost about $40.00 (once they start sagging is very difficult to keep them up and looking good)

Yeah, easy fix. Just takes patience. A good fabric store can supply you with the material.

I replaced mine with the kit from Ecklers or Mid America, I forget which one. Took about a day. On my 92 there was no molding or light to take out. The foam board was stuck to the hard top pretty good but I was able to remove it one piece. Then you have to clean all the existing adhesive off the board and top before spraying adhesive. I used the 3M headliner adhesive you can get at VatoZone. The kit that you buy, and I really think its Ecklers, comes with the headliner but no adhesive.
