corvette temps
ive seen a lot of posts asking for normal operting temps. so after driving today in 104 degree heat (temp on the climate control said 107, and its usually pretty accurate), going down the highway my oil was at 215, coolant between 185 to 190 with a 185 stat. oil got as high as 230 prior to me getting on the highway. i use mobile 1 that is currently in desperate need of a change.
temps are pretty good considering the conditions. too bad i cant say the same for myself. my shirt was drenched by the end of the trip. still working on that a/c

On similarly hot days I get oil temp at about 195 going down the highway (I have an engine oil cooler) and 215-230 in traffic/on the street. Water temp stays at around 185-195. What I have noticed is that it takes oil a long time to cool off: one good ten-second burst at full throttle, say a full-throttle quarter mile pass (the car does it in 10.4ish), will cause oil temp to shoot up almost instantly from, say 195, to 220, or from 215 to 235, and it then takes up to ten minutes of driving for it to drop back down.

haha, TopSpeed, if your car blows up, the temperature was too high. lol... i think that for the oil temp, anything above like 225 is too high. Im not too sure though, im working off of memory as it has been 2 weeks since ive seen my car.
