Front License Plate
My state requires afront license plate be displayed. Does anyone know what holds the factory "Corvette" plate on? Does it screw on from behind...held on by nuts on studs from behind..or maybe just snap in from the front? I don't want to destroy the thing by removing it.
Thanks in advance...........NineBall

RE: Front License Plate
On the nose of the car,the corvette plate cover lifts out at a angle. My '86 did not have any holes, put dimples where holes should be,so I put a 1/4-20 tap in a drill and pushed it into the plastic. Perfect, and just used machine screws from the front.

Thanks Yankee...
Theplate movement you describedwas accurate. CLOSE inspection revealed two tiny phillps screws on the lower edge holding the plate at the bottom. On a black car, they are hard to see (especially in a garage). Problem solved.

RE: Front License Plate
Oh, and don't lose the original front "filler" cover. I went the other way. Mine came from
a state that did require front license plate to my state which doesn't. (Looks million times
better without in my opinion but not indivuals choice.) I had to pay a total of $75.oo to get
a Corvette cover and another 20 or 25 to get it painted to match.
