Default Hard bump before going into OD

Hello everyone. I am new to this forum and I am also the proud owner of my first Vette. She is a 93 model. White exterior with red interior just like the original one! I bought it this past Thursday. It has 98000 miles on it but was babied by the previous owner. On Friday I had the oil changed ( Mobil 1 ) and all the fluids checked along with the belts and hoses. Everything checked out so my wife and I took it to the beach. About 350 miles round trip. It performed great there and back. No problems. However once we got back and the car had been sitting for a couple hours my youngest son wanted me to take him out for a drive. Well he wanted to go fast so I ran it up to about 100 turned around and did it again. I slowed it down and when I entered the 35mph speed zone upon accelerating to OD there was 2-3 bumps like the engine was missing or something. I stopped and turned around and it did it again when it was shifting into OD. 2-4 bumps then it was ok? Should I take it to a mechanic and let him check it out. It idles perfect so I am at a loss as to what it could be? Maybe it didnt like being driven hard like that? Anyone want to weigh in?
Thanks and I hope to be a regular contributer to the forum soon.
I have pics if anyone would like to see it. She is one sweet ride.
Thanks all
Wes

Try getting the trans serviced. The bump you may be feeling is the converter going in and out of lockup. Try driving it in 3rd and see if it still does it and then in overdrive. When you feel the bumping you might try and tap the brake while keeping steady pressure on the accelerator. Brake pedal actuation takes it out of lockup momentarily.

Thanks for the reply. It only does it when it goes into OD. I guess I should have the tranny serviced SOON
Thanks again

You can get a kit that keeps it from locking up in "around town" speeds.

Thanks I talked to my mechanic this morning and he told me to first get something called TransX and put that in. He told me that would lube all the parts needed and maybe would help the problem. If that doesnt work he told me he would look at it and search for other things. Knowing his specialty "isnt" Vettes should I try this before doing anything else. I did ask him should he service the tranny and he told me no because the fluid wasnt dirty and he didnt like to do that unless it was. Ideas?
Thanks
Wes

I think we have found the problem. While getting the transmission services my mechanic noticed the coil was arching. Why? Because its CRACKED !
He is replacing it now and all should be well . I hope .....
Thanks guys for the advice

He is probably talking about the lockup solenoid or 1 of the shift solenoids that are internal on the valve body of your 700R

I've had too many!! That transx(ual) got to me,especially when he told you to put it in!! Then he's going to lube it and search your parts!
Don't let him near your tranny;find a straight dealer.
Arching coils are indicitive of sexy snakes,
Welcome, hope you have a sense of humour!!
