Default Headlight Motor Repair

I'm in the process of replacing my headlight motor gear. The gasket for the gear cover was dried out and didn't come off in one piece. The gears I got didn't come with a replacement grrrrr.... Any thoughts on using the liquid gasket or should I buy the gears with gaskets and sell the ones I have???

The kit is more so I'd be paying extra. I should have thought that the gaskets would be no good after almost 17 years in the car. Mech259 where are you?

If you have the pieces of the original gasket you could use them and seal the cracks with silicone sealer. The important thing is to keep the dirt out, it should not take much to seal the gear case.

Just wondering how much money for headlight motor kit? Also, where it is located and if hard to install? I just bought a '89 vette and love it except each headlights seems like they are taking turns not flipping all the way open. I can open hood and they open fine. I don't know if it is the motor or what else it could be. Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Last time I bought a rebuilt motor from Ecklers, it was around $130.00. Using silicone for gasket material will work fine as long as you don't go overboard with it.
