lights issue...
When do the clear lights come on, that are in the rear quarter panel?
Neither of mine light up, at any time, including when the front clear ones come on, as the turn signal is engaged. I noticed this today, after pulling all the lenses off, across the rear end, to do house cleanin' [YUK]. |

RE: lights issue...
On my 85,there are4 backup lights, one on each side of the tag, and one on each rear quarter panel.
I will add too, that they only come on when the ignition is on. http://img160.imageshack.us/img160/4...ter2023ki6.jpg |
RE: lights issue...
When I first acquired my '78 I had the same question. they do come on when the ign. is on and you put it in reverse. Like you, I thought they were like the front ones and were supposed to come on with the blinkers until I went to change all the dang bulbs. We learn something every day huh?

Maybe a separate line from the tranny back-up switch??? EDIT: today Man, that is ugly under that quarter panel. Can ya' move that muffler there a couple of inches there buddy? I just got one question: Who designed this mess????[sm=badidea.gif] I can barely get a flashlight beam up there. Never mind an arm. With a wrench and socket on the end.Right now, we're lookin' at pullin' the rear wheel (I got 4 non-retracting inches of antennae to work on too[:'(]), and then pullin' the wheel well liner. Unless someone else can shed some light on this light bulb and antennae work (pun intended). Help??? |
RE: lights issue...
Wheel's off; liner's out...
Any tips on antennae/lights work down here??? [IMG]local://upfiles/5243/639C22D129D44C71899699D3F9D56ACB.jpg[/IMG] |

Mystery wire...This guy didn't go anywhere (pic 1). He was just standing around (hangin')watchin' stuff like a campfire.
Is this bulb a three-wire connector? (pic 2) What's that about havin' a wiring diagram:D:D:D? Little help? [IMG]local://upfiles/5243/67768E70EA554C819CAE75081C111BD4.jpg[/IMG] [IMG]local://upfiles/5243/DC10379CAC6E45FEAA1C2F2890589D42.jpg[/IMG] |
hold the onions and the mayonaise...
Code:
No, it's not a 3-wire connector. And it's not a 3-wire sandwich, either. But there's plenty of mustard wannabe inside of it. The lonesome wire apparently does not go into that connector. Code:
m8 NICE BLOCK[:@][:@][:@] There's a nifty little wheel well liner add-on over on that side. I just got one question: Who designed this stuff? [IMG]local://upfiles/5243/8DB63229112C488C9BDED0B88ADE1D34.jpg[/IMG] [IMG]local://upfiles/5243/45195D068DE64B85B0B4C83243931F81.jpg[/IMG] |
please enter something into the body and subject field
tada!
If the motor stops, see if you have gas in the tank. If the lights don't work when the turn signal is on, check to see if they're on when the tranny is in reverse (especially if they're reverse lights:eek:). Now, on to the antennae... You're a nut...!!!
LOL...Are we having fun yet??Gladto seeyou have it figured out. You're experiencing some of those fringe benefits that come with owning a vette;) I obviously have a little more room under there than you do, I can change the quarter panel bulbswithout having to remove the wheel and the wheel well panel. Although I do have to remove them to get to the tail, turn, and break light bulbs. |
RE: RE:
Looks like some else did too!
ORIGINAL: newman Hey Michelle, I replaced my antenna, motor and mast, on my 86 and it was a real pain. Sounds like all you need is the mast but I think you have to remove the motor / mast unit to replace the mast. Then reinstall the total unit. I had to remove the rear wheel, loosen the inner fender (wheel well) and lay on the ground, then basicly feel my way around inside the rear fender to remove the unit. Not an easy job, be prepared, although it is worth it. I like for everything to work on my car and not fixing little things like this is a sign of negligence to me. Good Luck, KN |

ORIGINAL: rshiver You're a nut...!!! LOL... You must be a detective. Or a psychologist. Maybe the next time I tell you they're backup lights, you'll listen huh? :D jk still need help on that wire... |

RE: lights issue...
After seeing the work you had to go thru just to gain access you just reminded me to change the 4 tail light bulbs on my 89 when I put the new Corsa exhaust system on this weekend. Guess "ounce of prevention" saves alot of skin and blood when it comes to a Vette
