Default LT 4 Mods R they the same as the LT 1?

I just recently purchased a 1996 White on Black LT-4 with a six speed (of course) with 15K miles and I am looking to do some mods so it can keep up with my 'Stang at the track! It already has magna flow exhaust (which is OK for now) and GS wheels, car is bone stock. I am wondering when I am looking through these catalogs, I see a ton of stuff for the LT 1. Can I assume that anything I see for the LT 1 I can put on the LT 4. I know the compression ratio and intake is a little different, what can I do with car? Also, looking to put on shorty ceramic coated headers, any suggestions (want performance and to dress it up). What about a good chip, intakes, etc. I would like to add as many bolt-ons as possible to make it faster. Do not want to start screwing with any of the engine internals. Thanks for your recommendations. Joe

well hear it is. the lt4 has better heads and intake and cam and roller rockers and compression.to mod your motor with out going into it,you can buy a pully kit comes with crank and alternator pullys looking at 10 to 15 horses.k&n filter will add some horses.biger throttle body. bigger injectors, fuel pump,chip.....gears in the rear end will help a lot.373 is a good all aroud gear.headers will help a lot i would go with long tube headers ,mufflers will help, run 2.1/2 inch exhaust system, they dont offer a lot of upgrades for thr lt1 and lt4. because they were in such limited production, and they did not make many parts for them, because the parts are not interchangable wit the sister 350.because of there reverse cooling. if you want to make big power you are going to
have the heads done ported and a bigger cam. i hope this helps.

good luck

Thanks for the advice, probably look at the throttle body and pulley's right off the bat. I see that you are from Deltona. That's funny, I was born and raised in Deltona. Lived there till '88 and now in NJ. Grew up on E. Hancock off of Providence. Small world! Joe

I you want to keep up at the track, i would say gears would help you the most. i go with 4.10s, especially since you are planning on doing more mods. I agree, long tubes are the way to go with the headers. you can get a lt4 hotcam, and you shouldnt even need to retune with that cam. you can port the heads but thats way down the line

i think 4,10 are a little steep for a street car,if you run 3.73 and some good power mods and some drag raidals you will run good,4.10 are a great gear for a track car, but if you plan on driving on the highway you will not like them it will feel like you need to shift again even in overdrive.with all my experance i would run the 3.73 for street and when you drag it you will get good low end and good top end,
