Default MAF sensor Tweaks?

Hello
Does anyone know if there is any truth behind removing the screens on the mass airflow sensor on an 89 with L98 engine?

ive heard that it raises the cfms from around 530 up to 700! but you run the risk of damaging it, and that this should only be done on certain models?

has anyone tried this or had success switching to an aftermarket performance MAF sensor?

Thanks.

Click on this link http://temp.corvetteforum.net/c4/vader86/and look along the left side of the page. Click on "minor mods that work" and enjoy. Check out the other links on his page. He has a wealth of knowledge about the L98 and some on the LT1. He knows tons about these cars.

You may have read my thread last Fall in this Forum titled "More Horsepower C-4 Only" in which I described the various minor mods I had done to my 87 Conv't Blue. All of those mods listed on the website that LeesVette provided in the above thread are exactly the same as those I did on my Vette. I can sincerely tell you that there is a radical difference in performance in my Vette and it actually has over 130,000 km on it. K & N filter(s) all the way. You give your Vette the "vitamins" she needs, and she'll perform for you until she ages gracefully, and then some.
