Paint Cracking above rear wheels

Paint Cracking above rear wheels
I recently bought a 92 Coupe that was garage kept
by my bro-inlaw. It has 71000 miles on it and has
some weird circular 1/2" cracking in the paint above the rear
wheels on both sides mid panel. My bro told me that it
was due to the body flexing (no accident, dings, etc)
. I wouldn't want new paint without correcting first if possible
Will try to post some photos.
Anyone hear of this?

c4's DO flex. I never realized it would crack the paint.
Now I know why both of mine showed cracking at the rear quarters, in the absence of a hit...
...just like the '87's front corner, which had a 'spider' crack from a 'bump'.

I have a 92 and mine doesn't have the cracking but if the car is driven with the top off a lot,I could see that. It is nota good idea to drive the car with the top off all the time. You are asking for trouble because of the body flex that goes on with these cars especially when the top is out.

Man I hate to hear that. I've been driving most of the summer with the targa top off on my coupe.
Kinda scarey. Be putting it on next week though for trip up to MidAmerica Fun Fest in Effingham, Il.

when ever you paint anything fiberglass , a boat or a corvette you must add a "flex agent" corvettes are famous for people not using flex agents when re-painting them and the paint cracking[:'(], so you might want to see if you car has ever been repainted but most of the factory paint is plenty safe to flex for the life of the product without cracking.

Right on the money with that 84corvetteC4. Very good advice when useing automotive paint on fiberglass. Overlooked by most. All fiberglass shrinks as it expands and contracts with temp. Flex agent is a must. Cheers.
