Default pictures not for the "faint of heart"............

Okay, one more major C4 project under my belt. Tore the steering column apart and changed the turn signal switch (cam). This was pretty scary as you can see from the pics. I'm hoping this will solve the fuse blowing problems I've had, if not........oh well, the turn signal switch is stiff and works awesome. The switch used be loose and worn feeling. Wont know if it fixed my electrical problem until tomorrow when I can drive it for a while.

Anyhow, anyone looking to do this, email me if you have questions and I'll try to help. Like I said, I was wondering if I would ever get this back together to be honest. I took digital pics at every step. I think I could do this now in about an hour if I had too.

I just had the same thing done at a dealership and it cost $600.00 for them to replace two parts. I would have attempted this project myself if it had not been for the airbag.

I agree, the air bag sounds scary......I may have taken that one in also. Through forums, books and friends I'm attemping to do all my own repairs. I've just heard horror stories of how much you get ripped off by taking corvettes in for work, plus I figure I'm learning something. Well, on to weather stripping replacement today.

Yup.

I got real cozy with an airbag last 10/06/06 (no, not some floozy). That's a very high-energy detonation.

I got a failed high-beam switch. Ya' think the wheel has to come off for that Rx?

I am pretty sure trhe wheel will have to come off. There is a little panel that comes up/off over the stem but I am sure you probably knew that since you have had a couple of these cars.

I had the exact same thing done and it cost about $600 bucks. It's cool that you figured it out and saved some major $$$$.
