Running Problem
Alright here is the problem that I am having. Was driving the car the other day and the car acted like it had a mist. Then the car shut off. Had all kinds of trouble starting so then I was thinking it was the fuel pump. Figured out the car wouldnt start if was getting no fuel. Took the cover off the cross ram injector and u can see the fuel injecting into the carbs, but could hear air from what it sounded like comng from underneath the carbs so replaced that and the air sucking stopped. But only difference it made was the car stays running ececpt when u give it gas it shuts off. Do you guys have any ideas what u think it is? or something u want me to check and see and give more feedback.
thanks

RE: Running Problem
Have you checked fuel pressure, engine vacuum, and spark? Try to narrow it down. Fuel pressure could be pump, engine vacuum could be catylytic conv., spark could be coil, stator, cap or rotor.

RE: Running Problem
Not losing fuel because u can watch the fuel being injected in the the carbs. I was thinking the egr bc when one of the guys was helping with work on the car squeeze the bottom on the egr the car acted normal so that is why I wanted to change that out? the idel came up and seem to wanna run right. what u think?

RE: Running Problem
That may be, but EGR will not shut the car off under throttle, mainly because that is when you get the valve opening. That is what I understood you to say, not at idle. Correct me if I am wrong.

RE: Running Problem
So you have fuel pulse from the injectors consistantly? Try an inline spark checker to see if you are dropping spark. You might be losing a coil, as what you described has the characteriscs of a weak coil.
