Service engine code TPSWS came on the other night in my 1989 Convertable, does anybody know what that means?

 

What code number is it?

 

I don't know, it came on the area above the radio, and said "Service Engine Soon TPSWS"

 

I need the trouble code that is set. You can short the 2 connectors together on the diagnostic connector in the upper right hand corner and turn the key on and it will blink each code 3 times. Pay no attention to a code 12 which will blink 1st, 1 short, space, 2 short. After that record codes on a piece of paper until it blinks a 12 again. [8D]

Just read the posting and I'm curious as to what two connectors get shorted to show the codes.

 

OK, Thanks for your help. But where is the diagnostic connector located? And how do I know it when I see it?

 

i dont know what year your car is, but im pretty sure they are all underneath the steering wheel next to the tranny tunnel. its black, should have a little cover on it. as said, its the top two terminals on the right side. on mine, the radiator fan comes on when running the diagnostic.

 

 

I found the Diagnostic Connector Box, below and right of the steering wheel, shorted out the top right two connectors and turned on key. Power Radiator Fan came on and the display only blinked the code 12 over and over. So I guess it was nothing to worry about, started car up and no service engine message is displayed.
