What is it?????? I broke a sensor (or something that looks like one) that goes straight from the alternator and into the drivers side of the head, right next to the exhaust manifold. Does anyone know what this is and is it important, sorry for being so dumb. I actually hit this thing while reaching down in the engine to clean some crap, ooppsss.

 

If the sensor is driver side cylinder head in front, it is the temp sending unit for the instrument cluster.

 

I looked up the sensor in the Ecklers catelog and one I broke looks more like the "Knock Sensor". Is it also located on the drivers side head?A short single wire comes straight from the alternator harness to this sensor.
