Default Someone threw a brick at my car!!!!!

Like the title says, I got off work today to find half a brick sitting at the bottom of my windshield with its landing mark right above the passenger headlight. Im just wondering if there is any kind of scratch remover or polish or anything that I can do that is shy of getting it repainted? I know its prolly a long shot but I just wanted to see if any one had any suggestions on this. Getting it repainted would have to wait because of other stuff mechanically that I need to take care of. And right now its just a real eye sore, especially because how immaculate it was and how near perfect the paint was. Here are some pics and if anyone has any suggestion, please let me know. I just can't beleive the stupidity people have.

Man, that's gotta suck. Vandalism at it's worst. Just some jealous punk.

I don't know of an instant cure. That Billy Mays (Huxster on TV) advertises a scratch
remover but they did a "Does it work" segment on TV from Cape Girardeau, Mo. and the
product did not perform well. I think Simonize also markets a similar product.

My advise would be to try your favorite Auto Parts Store and ask for advice.

Good luck.

Thats a bummer! I've used Turtle Wax "Bug and Tar Remover" on small scratches and had good results with it. Hope it works for you, PG.

Can't tell the color or if it's metallic, you can try wet-sanding VERY CAREFULLY. 1000 grit wet paper, it probably won't remove the entire scratch but may be tolerable.

You're lucky the windshield didn't take a direct hit.
I'd try polishing compound first if it's a mar and not scratched thru paint. Even if it's thru paint, the polishing compound would smooth the area around the cut. Should make it harder to see anyway. Don't use rubbing compound. It's more abrasive.

For the most part things like this make me think people, in general, suck now adays. What purpose does throwing a brick at someone's car serve? I'd like to catch the little bastards in the act and show them what real damage from a brick is.

Some of those scratcheslook like they are through to the glass under the paint. If so you will need to fill them with touch up paint before you do any sanding, buffing or waxing. Other wize the compound or wax will soak into the glass and paint will not stick. Good luck with it. Cheers

Check out this website:

http://www.langka.com/

I have never used it, but I have always been interested. Let us know how it works.

Thanks for all the support everyone. Yeah seeing the car walking up to it just made my stomach turn and I was heated. That langka product looks interesting and I might give that a try. 78buckshot, the paint isn't metallic. Is there any place that I can find the paint code for my car? I would say its a charcoal gray, but I would like to be sure so that if I get the touch up paint, I can get the matching one. Thanks again everyone.

If I were you, I would leave it. Why? Because for some untold reason, someone has some bad feelings toward you. It's not vandalism. If it was vandalism, your window would definitely have been trashed. Someone smaller than you is pissed off at you, maybe a girl? maybe a young teenager in a "ricer car"? Maybe someone who feels you wronged them somehow.

If it is someone you know, then they'll do it again ESPECIALLY if you repair it immediately.

Give it some time... It's no big deal.... think of it as a battle scar (no pun intended.... battlecar!)
