First off let me start by wishing everyone a happy holiday. Now for the bad business. Last Wednesday, I was coming home from work and decided to stop at my watering hole to have a beer. I stopped and had a couple then got in the car to come home. I pulled out and accelerated and the car wouldn't go into 3rd or overdrive. Besides that, when I accelerated the tranny would slip. This all happened very suddenly because the car shifted fine before I stopped. I could tell that the tranny was getting tired because of the occasional weak shift but this was like night and day. One minute it worked, I stopped and the next minute it didn't. I made it home in second because I only live about a mile and a half from this bar. Did my tranny give out or is this something that can be fixed? I know I can't get a difinitive answer without further investigation but would like input. The car is an 85 auto with about 90k miles.
