Default Under Hood Lights

Are the lights under the hood supposed to come on when hood is raised ? If so is there more than 1 fuse or what else would cause them not to come on ? Thanks Dave

Inside each light is a little mercury switch on one end of the bulb. If you have a test light you can check one end with the mercury switch to see if you have power. Those lights were kind of notorious for getting corroded and the clips and connections just might need a good cleaning. (What I did to mine). Also grounds were not clean and tight to. Both lights ground on the driver side frame rail just below the hinge. [8D]

what exactly triggers the lights to come on when you raise the hood? maybe there is a problem in the switch?

Can anyone tell me what the stock number(?) or reference number is for these two bulbs is? Both of mine have been out for years now, and the suppliers want to know the "numbers" for them. Mine is an 87 Vette, and the bulb for under the hood is a "strange" looking bulb that "pushes" into the socket(s). Thanks for any i9nfo.

In my '94, there is a second fuse just in front of the left front tire. It is easy to access and I frequently remove it at car shows so my battery don't die.
