VATS. maybe...

Summer of 06, I had some electrical issues with my car. The guy I took it to also bypassed the VATS by putting in the resistor by-pass. I am having problems with my car and it intermittantly wont start. When it doesn't start, the security light stays on indicating that the VATS is engaged but I dont know ho this is entirely possible. What I want to do is completely remove the VATS so it can't fail. What is the best way to go about doing this. Can I reprogram the computer and tun the VATS off so it doesn't give me any more **** ****!?!?!?!?!?

symptoms: car intermittantly wont start
wait 10-20 minutes, starts up
turn off, and try to restart, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't.
(everytime it does not start, the security light in the dash is illuminated.)

You can get the vats disarm box. Go too www.vatssucks.com for more info.[&:]

It could also be a bad resistor in your key. If you have another set of keys next time try the other key when it happens. Same scenario is going on with my car and one of my keys is bad.

Im taking the car to a guy today who installed the resistor bypass. Hopefully, something is just loose and he can snap it back together or something. If its not, then I have no idea what Im gonna do....

A lot of the time when VATS is bypassed they just twist the wires that normally go to the key around the wires from the resistor.
The resistor really needs to be soldered in place for the bypas to work properly.
