Yet another no start thread

Hi Guys,

Did a search on this but no luck as some ended with no solution or slightly different problem so any help will be GREATLY appreciated!

The car will crank, but will not start.
1992 stock Corvette automatic.

1. There is fuel verified to the rail @ 43psi.
2. Spark verified to coil and plugs. Car will start and run great for a second with a shot of starting fluid.
3. There is 12v to injector pink wires with KOEO. No pulse to ground when cranking with test light to positive source, so the injectors are not firing.
4. All fuses are good and there are no trouble codes verified by grounding ALDL terminals A to G.

Anyone know of any diagnostics to figure if the computer could be the culprit of the no pulse condition?

Can the car still have strong spark but yet no signal from the opti?

Thanks in advance!

Yr not getting codes from ALDL ?
The only thing I can say is low voltage !

It's amazing a car can crank and spark but if the cranking makes the voltage low to the computer the fire will be too weak to start.
The starting fluid is a hotter fuel .

Try another battery or a jump then if it starts check the voltage both running and stopped to figure out if its the battery or the Alt.

haveing same problem with 88 , been told could be related to security shuttting off or key chip gone bad, any input would be nice

Had the same problem with an '87. turned out to be the icm. mine was not an opti engine.

You can haveyour key checked at any dealership. Hang tight Mech will hopefully pipe up with a good answer for you. good luck with it and please post your solution. Cheers

You can verify the injector pulse command through a scan tool to see if ECM is commanding injector pulse. If not, then you might have a crank or cam sensor problem if the engine is a LT1, then check to see if you can get scan tool data to verify if the PCM is powering up. If so, you might need a new PCM. The Opti has high and low data rate sensors for injection timing, may be the Opti which do go out. Does the security light flash while cranking? The security system will disable the injectors. Need to check to see if any codes.

I'm pretty sure a vats failure results in the engine not cranking at all !
