Anyone have any good suggestions on some basic performance parts to put on an 02 Z06 to get more power out of it??

 

That would depend on how much you are willing to spend. but since you said basic i'm assuming you mean relatively cheap bolt ons. here are a few that wont totaly break the bank.


Blackwing cold air induction ( and no the K&N doesent even come close to matching up)
Cat back exhaust ( i'm a corsa man myself but there are several good option)
Tunning ( a very important step no matter what you change, you'd be supprised)
throttle body ( here i would just spend a few more benjimans and get the entire intake)

Theres just a few i'm sure you'll get pleanty of responses from others with there personnal preferences.

I am willing to spend 5 grand... Has anyone ever removed there Z06 side badges as well as front flag badge?? Are there hole's behind the badges??

 

See my reply to "Need more ponys" I tried everything, gradually, documenting going from 357 measured rear wheel HP to nearly 650. Literally, over 3 years, i spent maybe $50K total (but had a lot of fun) with my '02 ZO6. Has over 625 RWHP now, with a slightly milder cam than the most extreme i tried, and tuned 'for the street." In truth, it is very driveable every day, idles fine, lugs at 1200 rpm, good fuel economy. ANd it pulls like nothing you can imagine. 1/4 in the very low tens on drag radials. Afraid to try in on slicks (see comments on the Camaro transmission below0.

But with 345 mm rear tires, etc., its too extreeme for any rain, and with a lowered suspension (needed in order to fit the 13 inch wide wheels for the 345s under the tubbed rear wheel wells: suspension arm clearance problems) its too low to go over speed bumps. So, for every day, unfortuantely, it is too extreme. So its become more of a show car and saturday nite cruiser: my wife and i drive around and pipe folks and act tough and have fun and make dates for $5K drags at the strip: win most but I've lost a couple of times, too.

I drive a Porsche Carrera to work most days. (Don't knock them, corette owners talk them down, but they are nice little cars, and they handle rain well).

I took a different direction with my '98 Camaro. It's a pure drag car withy a roll cage, etc. 408 iron block built by Horsepower engineering in Houston, AFR heads, monstoer cam, 11.3:1 cormpression, nitrous, slicks, etc. The engine cost only 1/5 as much as the 'vette'sand has about 90% of the HP. My son keeps it at his house and drives it mostly. Very anti-social car - loud, bad, a lot of fun, except it busts transmission regularly on the launch with the slicks. And not really streetable.

 

Yeah, I removed the badges. There is no hole.

I just pried them off carefully. Used an old expired credit card pushed against the car so I would not get any scratches on the paid and a broad-faced chisel to carefully pry them off. Got both off unbroken. Then used goo-remover to wipe off residual glue and polished it up.

I don't think anyone uses badging with holes and bolts any more. when I finally got the 427 C5R engine in my car I put "427" OEM badges for a 1969 427 vette on the hood (it is an aftermarket hood with the power bulge just about like the original big block C3s had) and had to have the body shop drill holes for the attachments: but it was an aftermarket hood and they did it perfectly.

Most new stuff uses double-sided sticky foam.
