Default Advice

Hey all....well...ya live and learn I guess. I have come to the conclusion that I want to sell my 97 Vette and get a newer one. This is based on me not having raced before...and now that I have a few times...I want to get a Vette with the 6 speed....my 97 is an Auto. I just think before I put any more money in mine I would be happier to get a 6 speed now....and then work on upgrading a new one later on...since a new one will cost me more than this one did. My 97 is white and in excellent condition with only 15,000 miles on it...so I don't think I will have too much trouble selling it...I think selling it privately will be the best...as I don't want to take a 3 to $5,000 loss on a trade in. I'm thinking I want a 2002 ZO6....I was thinking the 01 would be cheaper based on being the 385hp versus the 405hp that 02's have....but I like the idea of the HUD...which from my research started coming on the 02 ZO6s. Anybody have any advice for me? I like the style of the ZO6 and I like the added power...and since I want to be racing it 6-8 times a year I think the differences in the base C5 to the ZO6 may be worth the difference? not to mention making a lot of what I want as the only option in the ZO6....LS6 engine....different suspension.....etc. I would like to have under 15,000 miles on it....obviously do a CarFax report on it....and I'm hoping to stay in the $33,000 price range???? I'm in WA state...and have found a couple in Seattle.....but not a whole lot of them close by...I'm a little weary getting something a long way away....having to travel to see it....and either driving it or having it shipped...would add quite a bit of cost to my 33K budget. I'm going to try to work with Pacific Auto Brokers in Seattle to see if they could find me something that fits what I want....I don't really care all that much about color. Just seeing what you all say. Thanks in advance.

I think you should be able to go with an 02 Z06 for that amount. The HUD is a great feature - definitely worth the extra bucks. And if you're planning to race, the lighter the vehicle, the better - go with the Z06!

Personally, I like being able to remove the targa; that's why I chose a coupe.

Good luck!

I agree with what Dave said. It may take sometime and patients but you should be able to find exactly what you are looking for, for the price you want to pay. It took me a few months of searching the internet before I made my purchase, and even then I had to drive a hour to get her. But all-in-all for the purpose of racing the Z06 is going to give you some great advantages over what you are currently driving.
