C5 chrome wheel/tire set value? 17x8.5, 18x9.5 w/Goodyear GS-D3 Eagle F1's
Hello all. New to the forum with a question regarding a set of wheels someone I know is wanting to sell.
He purchased these chrome wheels/tires new from Mid-America Motorworks (Effingham, IL) a few years ago (fall of '09 is what he said) for a Corvette C5 he had at the time. Before he even had a chance to mount the set on the car though, he sold the car. Since then, the entire set has been stored in his garage.
So: never even bolted to a car, never seen a lugnut, tires still have all those new rubber nips and pieces of the stickers on the treads, mounted/balanced and ready to go, even have Corvette valve stem caps and Corvette emblem centercaps.
Front: 17" w/245/45ZR-17 Goodyear GS-D3 Eagle F1 (rim offset=56)
Rear: 18" w/275/40ZR-18 Goodyear GS-D3 Eagle F1 (rim offset=65)
He's asking me to post them on Ebay for him, and he's curious what he should consider a fair current value to place on them.
(The small specs you see on the chrome in the pics are water droplets. It had just started to lightly snow when we moved them from the heated garage outside for the pictures, and the flakes were melting.)
See the entire photo album here. http://s300.photobucket.com/albums/n...0Ebay%20items/
The plan is to post them on eBay tomorrow night 2/13/12, so any input between now and then would be appreciated. Or, if you know of anyone who may be interested, I can provide the sellers phone number and we could avoid Ebay and their outrageous fees altogether.
Thanks for reading,
Patrick

Thanks Dave. The guy I posted them for admitted to being a little nervous posting them starting at that price, but there are quite a few people watching the auction, and if any of them are like me when it comes to Ebay bidding, a last minute bidding frenzy wouldn't be all that surprising. We'll see how it goes though.
Regarding the tires, I guess it will just depend on the various bidders' priorities/preferences. Some interested parties have noted preferences for run-flats, and as the writer of the tire review article I posted in response to the run-flat question asked on Ebay, the GS-D3's are noted to be better performers when it comes to high-performance driving characteristics. (But given your signature, I see you're not new to the GS-D3's yourself).

Will most likely be re-listing the auction for the wheels/tires in the near future, but in the meantime, if anyone reading this (or anyone you know who may be interested) wants to make an offer, feel free to do so here.
The possibility of meeting the winning bidder half-way (within a reasonable distance), or meeting the owner on either April 13th or 14th in Memphis, TN at the 2012 Memphis Super Chevy Show to take delivery in person to help save on shipping costs would still stand.

For further reference on how the performance of these tires compare to similar run-flat versions, this is the article on zr1netregistry.com I mentioned earlier.

The owner and I have recently been discussing relisting this wheel/tire combo on Ebay. So, if anyone is interested, now might be a good time to make offers since selling them through one of these message boards would mean that the owner wouldn't have to pay any of Ebays' final value fees.
