Turn your key to the on position without starting the engine. Hold down the option button (after pressing the reset button to clear any messages like your door is open or release handbraske before shifting) then press the fuel button 4 times. This will take you into diagnostic mode and gve you any fault codes. Then search the forum for the fault code to find out what these are to give you a clue.

Just clear the codes and if it goes away after you have driven it for a few days you are fine.

Generally that warning light is only on because it is triggered by something in regards to your emissions. It probably is nothing to worry about and will most likely turn off on its own.

That could very well be the infamous air pump check valve that is located behind the intake manifold. I believe the most common failure is indicated by the P1416 code (Secondary Air Injection (AIR) System Bank 2.)

I have a 2001 Corvvette auto 52,000 miles. The car has been running great except I had to replace the tranmission and the rear end 2 months ago under warranty thank goodness. After driving nearly 25 miles one way yesterday the check engine light come on, car was running fine, still is, check the DIC and the code is P1870HC I can't seem to locate what this one means any ideas?

Yeah I checked the same site and nothing found, someone else wrote me and said it means the transmission is slipping.

Code either means output speed sensor on transmission has detected slippage or did you have the gear ratio changed in the differential?

I found out my husband had a freind use his handdeld device to change the transmission shifting settings, once he put it back to where it was before, the light went out and so far ( two days now) has stayed off. Thanks
