Exhaust question
I'M LOOKING AT A S/S MAGNA FLOW SYSTEM, CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF THIS IS A GOOD SYSTEM FOR THE $$$$
I'M NOT LOOKING FOR ANYTHING LOUD, JUST A NICE DEEP SOUND WITH SOME HP GAINS. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Magna...Q5fAccessories |

Well, I went with the MagnaFlow Exhaust systems 16732, it was within my budget.
I love the sound at all RPM Ranges, not too much, just a deep sound that I was looking for. It looks good too. Installation was simple. It's all bolt on and just had to remove the rear sway bar inorder to remove the r/s. Here's some pics. |
Magnaflow makes a good cat-back. While I have Borla Stingers (fairly similar in sound), my son has a Magnaflow cat-back on his Civic CX. Either way, you can't go wrong.
Congrats. |

Thanks, Have heard good things about Borla, but the Magnaflow was a bit more in my price range. I'm thinking about getting an X-Pipe installed soon. I know that I will get more flow/Horsepower Gains compared to the Factory H-Pipe, just wasn't sure about leaving the Factory Catts in, or replacing them with a aftermarket set? and if the X-Pipe alone will make much of a difference. |
Army,
The biggest difference with an X-pipe will be the absence of "pops" when decelerating. There will not be any HP increase. Since I like the popping sound, I left the factory H-pipe in. You won't see much of a gain with high-flow cats, either, especially if your OEM cats don't have lots of miles or have never gonr through an engine malfunction that allowed extra hydrocarbons to pass into the cat. If you haven't already, open up the intake with a true CAI system. Long tube headers will also add a nice chunk of HP. (LTs are not legal here in CA, unfortunately.) |

Thanks for that Info! That's good to know about the X-Pipe and cats. I have a dual cone CAI and a power coupler, did the fog light assembly mod last week, so the car should be breathing a little bit better than stock. |
Great - that and your exhaust change should get you an extra 10-14 RWHP. That's power you can feel.
