Default Lowered Vette.

I got this car lowered, I mean there was about 1 inch between the wheel wells and the tires when I got it. It road likr sh!! I took it to A Vette shop and they raised it to about 3inches. I can still feel the pot holes and it rides kind of rough. Any thoughts on how to get a super lowered car and yet not sacrifice the ride?

Lowering a C5 or C6 (not sure about the C4 and earlier) does not really change the ride that much, just the suspension travel, because you are not replacing of modifying the springs. I have my ZO6 lowered1 inchinch in front and 3/4 inch at the rear is all: the headers still clear all but the worst parking lot speed bumpsand except for a slightly stiffer jounce return at the rear (a result of the modded suspension for the tubbing kit, not the lowering) the car rides as well as it did stock, which was always fine by me.. Don't know if your 'vette's ride problem is something with the car or you just don't like the firm suspension, but the shop that raised it back should have told you if they saw anything amiss with the suspension.

The problem is that the rear seems to bottom out. The shop said they raised it as far as they could without replacing the bushing that were cut. You think maybe I need new shocks?

I'm not sure I understand you guy's. And belive me I need to.And any feed back is welcome, if it sounds like your being a smart a?? it's cool. I'm new to the Vette world.
Are you guy's saying that 3inches is to much. The car was almost rubbing on the tires before I had it lifted. The tires were sucked up under the wheel wells. And it would bottom out
on ever little bump. If 3inches is to much, how do I keep the car from bottomng out on the road. I agree that the lower the better. But this car was unpleasant to drive.
Please, and advise is good advice.

That look is sick man, I just don't understand how to keep the car from bottoming out on every little thing on the road. I'm thinking I need new shocks. Because the rear is bottoming out on any little thing. I am at my witts end with this car. I love the car but it is driving me nuts.I understand that it is a diffrent ride that the average car. But if you have ever been in a mini truck when it was cool to lower them, rides just like they did.
Shocks that another thing. What shocks to buy??? I hope that by coming to this forum it will help me understand whats up with the Corvette world. I love the car but i'm just a little frustrated with not knowing anything about them.So thank you guy's for any and all your help.

If you lower a C5 using only the stock bolts (like I did), ride does not suffer at all. Once you cut the bushings, all bets are off and you WILL feel added harshness. Oh, and if you haven't already, get rid of any runflat tires. They punish the driver just as bad! I recommend Goodyear GSD3s and if you need shocks, the Bilstein Sports.

Here's what my car looks like:

I recommend going with a Pfadt Suspension. I know of a couple people who use their products and are absolutely in love with them: http://www.pfadtracing.com/
