LOWERING MY "03"

RE: LOWERING MY "03"
About an inch was best for me. More than that and the car looked too low, and more than that rubbed or corners, too -- of course I have wider than stock tires (275s front, 345s rear), but I had wheels and suspension changes and tubbed wells made to accomodate them.

You won't be able to lower your C5 that much on stock bolts (longer ones are needed), but I woudn't recommend lowering more than what is possible on stock bolts. Here's a procedure for you:

RE: LOWERING MY "03"
Thank you Dave for helping me..
I'm just a little confused by the pictures on the site you sent me. If I tighten the rear bolts, wouldn't that increase my threads? Am I suppose to loosin the bolts and leave a few threads?? This would drop the rear?....correct??
I'm eager to do this, but afraid of causing damage. Have you ever heard of this causing damage?? One inch on the rear is fine with me. I believe it will look noticeable.

Also..
I'm thinking about not touching the front, since it's more of a concern when going up steep inclines. You think dropping the rear 1 inch and leaving the front stock height will look ok??

RE: LOWERING MY "03"
MYROSIE,
I advise against lowering just the rear. The level of the car must remain the same after lowering, so lowering just one end would not only make the car look weird, but will also compromise handling. Follow the procedures and your car will look much better than it does now. However, if you do NOT have the Z51 suspension option, you may want to upgrade your suspension. I have to be very carefull entering and leaving driveways. Other than that, I have had no problems at all.

RE: LOWERING MY "03"
I lowered the rear using the stock bolts, I dropped one inch leaving two threads exposed.
I went from 29" from the garage floor to the center line of the fender well to 28".
Yes I know I should measure chassis dimensions, but I wanted it to look straight since I'm not really interested in how it will handle at 178 mph!!! I only get reach 105-110 when I'm getting on the freeway and usually let off when I shift into 4rth.
With the one inch drop the car rides firmer and the freeway bumps are more pronounced in the Dallas ~ Fortworth area.
