Default My latest invention........

I call it the "Glass Elegance Black Cherry shift ****" - fresh out of the mold! I still have some work to do before this one'll be ready to install, but it'll be interesting to see how it feels compared to the custom shape **** you see in my avatar.

This one measures 2.16 inches in diameter - perfect for medium to large hands. I'll let you know how I like it in a week or two.

Dave

Thanks, Blueshark and Gorichb. That small diameter shaft protruding out from the ball is there to help me center the drilling and tapping tools. I am considering leaving it in, although machining it off completely is also an option. What do you think - try it as-is first? I can always remove it later. The idea with the dark color is that the **** will look opaque while shaded, but will emit a cherry-red glow when exposed to sunlight.

BTW, everyone, you should take a look at Blueshark's website - very nice marine creations!

Nice looking shift **** you have there. I say leave it on for now, cause like you said you can always take it off if you don't like it, but once you take it off your not going to be able to put it back.

I say leave it too for now. Will probably look good either way. Your comment about emitting light....ever think of imbedding LED's?

oh yeah..thanks for the complement and the plug for my site. Cheers, BlueShark

Actually, I know of a guy who is developing a kinetic motion-charged LED for something like this, but I have not spent much time on it, myself. A simple setup would be to embed an LED into the ****, although it would be easier to do with my original-style ****, since the bulb can be embedded towards the front of the ****. That's a bit more difficult with the spherical-shaped ****. However, challenges can be fun!

I would say leave it in Dave, and lets see how it looks.
Like you said you could always take it off later.

Thanks, everyone. If the sun is out tomorrow, I'll take some pics. It'll be at least a few days before I have one threaded, but at least we'll see what the sun does!

That sure looks nice. Any way to make one of those and embed a metallic object that would, when installed, face backwards ? Just thinking here...
