Power to weight is bad,it weighs as much if not more than a vette and has less hp = slow heavy pig.

Its just like a 04 mustang cobra. Its supercharged 400 rated hp,but im pretty sure a stock c5 can hang with one at sea level because a cobra weighs almost 4k pounds.

Also for any doubters there is plenty of videos on streetfire.net of 600 rwhp tt 350z's getting walked by stock yesstockC6 Z06's, what is that 450 rwhp? Also there is plenty of videos of stock C5's hanging with stock sc Cobras.

I would definately be looking at a coupe, not the convertible.
So far it seems to me like the corvette is a fairly reliable car,
which is good enough for me. Considering I can pick one up
about the same price as a 350z, and considering that it gives
about twice the performance and looks for the money, I think
the corvette will be my choice.

nice choice,i own both cars. both are fun to drive. if the 350z has anything in common with a c5
it's value vs price or bang for your buck, i think in its class a c5 can't be beat, but i say the same
thing of the 350z for the price in its class its a solid car.

im a newb here but have been lurking for a long time.

IMO the z and the vette have almost nothing in common aside from being RWD and 2 seaters.

test drive a couple of vettes and then test drive a Z. the Z is a cool car, but the torque is really low compared to a vette. it also takes much more money to make a Z run fast then it does to make a vette go fast. the LSx engines are really popular in the "tuning" community so youll ahve no problem finding and affording parts if thats your goal.

ive had nissans with the Vq motor in the past and they were great for getting around, pretty peppy. but no comparison to the vette.

if money or practicality or comfort is an issue, you may want to look at a gto (gasp!) theyre also great cars. even if youre not interested, go get in one, the interior will blow your mind.

The vette is very reliable as long as you don't get the itch to mod the hell out of it. Keep it stock and it will last forever. 80,000 miles on mine and no problems.

Your very lucky then. Most of the problems I have had, have nothing to do with my mods. IE: headlights working but taillights not working, headlight gear replacement, thermostat going out etc......All between 28k miles and 32k miles. Not to good for a car that had all mods pro installed and was only driven about 6k miles a year before I got it.
