New vette owner have a question...
I recently purchased a 99. I have been driving it for a little ovr a week now and today on the way home i keep hearing a noise when i hit my breaks. The noise sounds like the break warning clip hitting the rotor when it's time to change the breaks. However, it does not make the noise when i pull on the emergency break. It only makes the noise when i apply the break. Does the emergency break operate differently to where this clip does not hit the rotor? Any help would be great.

Well...the emergency brake does not put as much friction as you applying the actual brakes. The easiest thing is to pull of the wheels and check them. I do this every other week just for the hell of it. Good luck!

And the emergency brake does not activate the front pads, either. I'd have all the pads and brakes checked, particularly the front. Its a good idea to change them if in doubt.

If I'm not mistaken, the emergency brake has shoes inside the rear rotor. If that is the case, you will not hear the same noise. Others are right, you probably need some brake work. [8D]

That's want i wanted to know. I am dropping it off at the place where I bought it today. They are doing some other work for me and i'll have them inspect the breaks. I think it's just time for a break job. I just wanted to be sure that there was nothing else i needed to worry about. Thanks for the comments!

I dropped it off and the mechanic took a test drive with me. He thinks it's the right rear break clip hitting the rotor. I'll get it back this afternoon and I'll post what it was exactly...
