Oil Level

When is the best time be check the oil level in my '01 LS1? I've been getting conflicting answers on this one. Thanks.

I would check the oil every 1000-1500 miles or so. If you do it when you get home, allow at least a few minutes for the oil to drain into the pan.

It's probably not as important when you check it as it is to be consistent and form a habit of checking it. You will see a different level depending on how warm the engine is,how long you let it drain down and so on. For many folks the best time is when you're fueling. Gives you something to do while the gas is running in. Start the gas,pop the hood check the oil, brake fluid, power steering fluid, wash the windows, kick the tires.....well maybe not kick the tires. The important thing is the habit!

the best time to check oil is "before" you start the car, on level ground of course....and then add accordingly.....

you must check the oil level in every 5 months or there is one signal for this checking of level by that also you can get knowledge...

I agree with drinker, I would check it before starting my car when it is cold. Of coarse you have your check engine oil on your dic but if your not burning any I would check it every month.
