Default Rear license plate holder - Help!

Hello my C5 friends - you have helped me many times in the past, and hoping for one more time! Is there a trick to getting the old plate out of the rear plate holder? Seems like this would be extremely simple - but, like all things corvette, it isn't! I've taken out the four screws holding the plate in the holder, but the black plastic holder is pretty secure and I'm afraid I'm going to breask something. Are there more screws I don't see? Do I have to attack this from inside the trunk? Under the car? Is the holder also part of the assembly that holds the back-up lights? Please help! Thanking you in advance - Texaskid

I guess no one has ever changed their rear license plate.

Here you go:

If you look on the inside edge of the plate holder you will see (4) slots. Be careful and put a screw driver in those slots and pry gently. There are (4) clips with an edge on them that need to pop loose. Once you get one loose you will see what I mean. When you install your plate be sure and put plate in the plate holder and snap back into place before attaching the screws.

Default Thanks!

Dave01 - Thank you. I was afraid to try it, thought I was going to break something. As it turned out, someone backed into me in a parking lot and car had to go to the body shop. They put the new plate on for me. Next time.....

...no problem, Kid,

This is why I don't take my C5 to Home Depot, any school parking lot, any mall parking lot, or anywhere there are large numbers of vehicles! (sad to say)
