If you can get metal strip thin enough, that's 1" x 3', with matching holes cut out,you should be able to overlay the existinglength of door, and re-create the damaged holes...

It's not a load-bearing part, so silicone or other adhesive should suffice.

 

if yourfixing ityourself use compatible materials for the repair. im not sure on your year vettebut i dont think you can just use any fiberglass resin.
