What gives more RWHP - C.A.I. or headers

You'll definately get more from headers. Probably about 8 - 10 from the C.A.I, I'll leave the numbers for the experts though. But I wanted to share this article with you.
Note that the peak HP is achieved near the redline, close to 6000 rpm. To achieve this we would have to have the right combination, headers, high flow cat, x pipe, exhaust, etc.
thought you would like the article though.

Something to think about is HP gain per dollar. Header cost more than CAI but cost more too. Typical figures might be
Headers - 25 HP, headers and parts (new gaskets, etc.) $800, labor $350 -= total $1100, ----> $44 per HP
CAI - 10 HP, cost $395, other parts, $5, labor, none (do it yourself), total, $400 ---> $40/HP.

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. The cost differential is not enough to play into my decision-making process. I will eventually add both, but was wondering what kind of result I could expect.
Again, thanks.

Hey Rich -
Wow - just read the article and it is outstanding! Thank you so much. I have found a good mechanic whom I trust and will probably have the headers and C.A.I. done at the same time, so I'm sure to use compatible parts.
Thanks again and be sure and let us all know how you are doing with your new Honker.
Take care, stay safe.

Can anyone give me an approximate idea which will give me more RWHP- a C.A.I. or exhaust headers?
Thanks in advance.

Great Rita!!
I found that article enjoyable myself.
Glad to hear you found a good mechanic, they are hard to come by anymore.
Any idea which headers you'll go with? and are you going to get them so they are smog legal?
Rich

Hi, Rich -
That was going to be my next question to the Forum - which headers are best. I am also going to call my mechanic and see what he recommends. I am definitely going street legal and hope to do this all over Thanksgiving and maybe Christmas break. (I work at a university.)
Stay tuned and thanks again for all your help.
