Wind noise at over 80 mph!

1 Attachment(s)
My car makes a very audible wind noise when I travel at 80 mph or above. It mostly comes from the passenger side between the window and the edge of the targa top. Does this happen to any of you? What's the solution?

Take the top off and lube all the relevant seals with dielectric grease. Reinstall the top and try it again.

Thanks Dave! Where do I get this "dielectric grease?" Never heard of it before. How does this grease work? Will it make a mess with the glass?

RE: Wind noise at over 80 mph!

You can find dielectric grease at many auto parts stores (call first), your local Chevy dealership, and electric supply stores. Use it very sparingly and do not let it get on painted surfaces. You may have to wipe the upper part of the windows for a while after you apply the grease, but that's a small price to pay for silence. The C5 manual recommends greasing seals every 6 months, but I say it depends upon how often you pop the top. Every couple of years is probably sufficient for most C5s.

By the way, dielectric grease is typically used inside sparkplug boots and in electrical connectors. It keeps out corrosion-commencing moisture and prevents eventual connection failure.
