What would you do if you were challenged at a traffic light by a Subaru WRX or a Mitsubishi Evolution or a Pontiac GTO G6 or a Dodge Neon on steroids?

 

Id rather race the WRX. It's probably the slowest of the bunch. Yeah, yeah, I know many will vote to keep your cool, but once in a while, it's nice to experience a brief burst of speed, just to show em who's boss!

I voted not to race, both because it can get you into trouble, and because it plays with the other guys mind if you do it right: show just a trace of disdain for his car and then ignore him, etc.

But I do agree with Dave - I do not consider a short "contest" away from a light to be a race, either - but the problem is it can often develop into one, particularly against wither the STI or the Evo - both have 4-wheel drive so they jump off the line -- their one opportunity where they may embarrass a 'vette. Then, the choice, do you just let it go and lose ego points, or make a race of it to prove things? I'd pick the GTO. It is not going to win if it comes to a race, and it can't get traction like a 4-wheel drive.

 

I have had 2 bouts with STI's one stuck with me to 60 mph not bad. I think by the time I was in second gear he was in 4th though lol. And the other must have been stock because he was behind me by like 35 - 40 mph and turned at the next light when he was going to have to line up with me again. I have yet to line up with an evo but my friend has one that is sick, bigger turbo etc.... I think he would be with me till around 80 mph and I would pull, no way he beats me 1/4 mile though. GTOs would have no chance what so ever unless they were modded. I work with a guy that has an srt4 (the neon) he rode in my friends stock 02 zo6 which isnt as fast as my car and couldnt belive how it pulled so he would have no chance either. And there has been a few mustangs that I just smile at the guy or girl and accelerate normally kinda like Lee was saying about not racing but the other guy knows you have something.
