I am new to the Vette world and have always admired them. I almost bought a new Vette last year, an 07 coupe, 6 speed manual Z51. The salesman with me literally weighed 400 lbs. The car seemed deceptively fast, but I did not feel the same power as I did with the 08 I just bought. Is the 08 stronger from the seat of the pants feel or was the 07 hampered by the big guy? I might add that my car is a Z51 6 speed auto/paddle shift.

 

besides the extra h.p in the 08 I had 2 -o7 corvette's the first was black 6 speed back in july it gottotaled out whenwhen my street flooded and the vet in the garage had water up to the dash .It was a standard vet .I replaced it with a lemans blue with the Z51 pkg. It wasa different type of performance from the Z51 pkg. the trans in a std vet were 1-2.66 2-1.78 3-1.30 4-1.00 5-0.74 6-0.50 the Z51 is 1-2.97 2-2.07 3-1.43 41.00 5-0.71 6-0.57 and to me the Z51 out performs the std.Now in 08 the trans is different Idont have the #' on the trans .Maybe that's what you were feeling .Maybe some can add to this Just my $.02

The 08 year model cars have the LS3 engine which has 430hp and 424lb-ft of torque. With the optional dual mode exhaust the power is rated at 436hp and 428 ft-lb of torque.

The new engine has better flowing cylinder heads, bigger valves, a different intake manifold and is a 6.2 liter engine.

 

I have a 2008 C6 LS3 black on black 6spd. My buddy has a 07 C6 Z51 and I destroy that thing in any gear and any speed. Havent checked the gear ratios on it yet, but the LS3s gear aredefinitally longer than the Z51 LS2s.
