Default After market exhaust

I am aware of the Mass-Ferguson (sp?) Act, or is the other way around? and would like to change the exhaust on my 07 C6 just for a better sound but my owner's manual clearly states any mod increasing HP/performance will void the warranty. I understand an after market exhaust will only slightly increase HP, but what if for some reason the engine or transmission brakes. And I understand the dealer is suppose to be able to prove the non GM part caused the problem and have heard stories some dealers go out of their way to denie coverage. I am surprised numerous owners of new vettes still under factory warranty are changing to after market air intakes and exhaust systems and are apparently not concerned about engine or trans problems and the dealer maybe not fixing it. Comments anyone ?

Life is too short to worry about warranties. Read the small print, NOTHING IS COVERED!!!!! They gonna fight ya tooth and nail! Put the exhaust on and enjoy life.

Oh, and by the way, I just happen to have a Corsa Xtreme exhaust system for sale. Only about 400 miles on it. I put it on my C6 Paddler then found out it is not suitable for automatics. Changed it out and it's like new. Cost $1200. I got the receipts. If yours is a 6spd. this may be the ticket. I'll let it go for $800. If you got a lift you can install it in about 1/2 hr.

I'm in NJ. E-mail me if you're interested. Yellovette800@msn.com.

Dealers are in a weak position if they refuse warranty work on a car with an aftermarket cat-back exhaust because many dealerships install them on new cars and charage and arm and aleg for them as an optionthis was particularly common back when cars were selling and the C6 was a new model and hard to get. You can raise hell and most will honor the warranty on all but the exhaust (for example if a cat went bad they might say it was your changing the exhaust that led to the failure), but they would cover any and all other things.
A cat-back will add only about 5-10 HP at most: you really won't feel it although you might convince yourself you do - a dyno or a trip to the strip will show otherwise. Mostly it will change the sound. Most often, the change in sound can be explained this way: much better at idle, much much better when you want the car to beloud, and slightly worse when you want the car to be quiet.
More extreme exhaust modifications like headers (adds about 25 HP if you have the car retuned) or deleting cats (actually hurts performance on a mostly stock LS engine) will probably evoke a refusal to honor the warranty. Real "get into the engine"mods like a new cam, intake manifold, high-ratio lifters, or an extreme tune, etc. will definately do that.
