Default C6 Z06

Is anyone going to get one? When are they available to the public? I looked on www.chevrolet.com and they said starting a 65k. This doesn't sound like too bad of a price to me considering what you get. I would certainly do some sick stuff to get one.

The road test in this months Road and Track mentioned a price in the $65K range, but my dealer said it would probably cost in the high $70s drive out.

I was most struck by the performance they tested: not as good as I expected: right on par in 0-60 and 1/4 time and speed with a 485 HP Lingenfelter magnusen supercharged C5 road test that was published in April 2002. They said it did not have the grunt of a Viper, which given its weight and power rating, you'd expect.

That, and given GM's record with sorting out cars only after they've been out for a year or so (this isn't like the last ZO6, which was really just a standard model with new cam and so forth: in particular, the dry sump and other such features -- well I hope they get them right), and the dealer marks ups, I'm going to pass for now.

Besides, I have most of the pieces now: '02 ZO6 with a C5R 427 cubic inch block, aftermarket heads and so forth (dynos naturally aspirated at 485 RWHP; 594 with SC), 12 in wide rear tires (345s in this case) and so forth. Really would like to have that dry sump lubrication though: I know I have a lot of windage losses plus that thrashes the oil a lot and oil temp (but not pressure) is a problem if I drive the thing hard. And the 2.2 inch titanium intake valves have to be great: I spent a lot on aftermarket Patriot heads to get only 2.1" upgrade from the stock 2.02"
