Differential squeek

Differential squeek
I have a 2006 C6 coupe, and started noticing a squeeking or rubbing sound whenever I cut the wheel hard to left or right while moving forward or backwared (at any speed) it feels like it is coming from the front end, but the dealer says it's something in the differential that is a known issue with C6 Corvettes.
Not sure why it only makes the noise when I turn the wheel hard to either side, I was thinking it might be a tie rod or bushing on the front end, but Dealer says its the differential because when the wheel is turned since one wheel is turning at a different rate than the other wheel it causes something to make the noise in the differential.
They want $2,000 to fix it, and I don't think that is the real problem anyway..
ANY ADVICE OR RECOMMENDATIONS GREATLY APPRECIATED!
THANKS IN ADVANCE!

How bad is the squeak? It would have to be pretty bad for me to justify $2k in repairs. Afterall, how often do you crank the wheel from one side to the other? Maybe in a parking lot or when doing a u-turn. I'll have to try it in my '09 and see if it does anything strange.
