Default Z51 restraints for 2006-WHAT!

I finally sold my 350Z over the weekend and I'm ready to order my 2006 cpe. My local vette-rep just informed me that I can't order the Z51 pkg due to GM restraints. BUZZKILL!!! Has anyone else heard of this? I would appreciate any feedback. I am happy that the steering wheel has been changed from last years model though. It looks more like the zo6 wheel than a Silverrado's steering wheel. lol

He did not go to much more detail other than that there is a restraint on the Z51pkg for the 2006. He also asked me if I HAVE to have the Z51. That isn't promising. I'm meeting with him this week and hopefully the hold-up is just temporary. I hope.

Danase,to your previous question. The Z51 Performance Package is a competition-ready system for the true performance enthusiast. It offers more aggressive dampers and springs, larger stabilizer bars, Goodyear Supercar tires with an asymmetrical tread pattern, and larger, cross-drilled brake rotors for outstanding handling performance that is still comfortable for daily driving. Beyond the suspension bits, the Z51 is a total system that takes the “regular†C6 to near-exotic levels of performance. It features gear ratios borrowed from the previous Corvette Z06 for maximum acceleration performance, and includes coolers added for the transmission and power steering systems for aggressive, track-oriented use. The result is a car that very nearly equals the Z06 in track performance – representing a tremendous value.

OK, I copy and pasted the info above Thats just too much to type...

Hey my dealer told me a simmilar thing, he said that they weren't allowed to order Z51's from gm. They didn't know why but he told me when they were able to order he would let me know. As of today 1/17/06 he said that my order went in. So i don't know how many each dealer is allowed but according to him mine is ordered. I hope this is a help to anyone.

Regarding Z51 performance--a clarification: The C6 with Z51 package has nearly the track performance of the C5 Z06, not even close to the performance of a C6 Z06.

I just picked up new Z51 right off the truck. They dropped off three and all three were Z51 and there were three others in inventory 2 convertables, and one coupe. All were Z51.

No, actually this is Vette number four for me. Here is what I had in the past:

1984 Z51
1993 40th Ann edition Z07
2004 Lemans

Now, 2006 Z51
