Billet Tech 170 Amp Alternator
Hello,
I currently own a 2005 C6 Base Coupe white for several months now--dearly love it, cream puff. I've noticed as many of you how the factory alternator just does not produce enough power for stop and go--low RPMs, heavy A/C and the like. I ordered and received a Billet Tech 170 amp alternator. I've been gathering materials for the installation including new belts to be done at the same time. I've read as much as possible on the subject here but might have missed the solution to the question I have. I wish to keep the original battery connections intact, but will need to connect the 4 gauge negative and positive wire to the battery>new alternator according to the manufacturer. The present battery is a NAPA Gold installed by the previous owner and test out perfectly. I keep a tender when garaged.. What did you use to facilitate this connection? I purchase an inline marine grade fuse link 250 amps-ANL. The wire is pure copper. If I'm asking noob questions forgive me in advance as I'm 150 years old and have just a few brain cells remaining. I have a friend who will do the installation for me (Master Mechanic) once I have my ducks in a row. This is my second Corvette. The first one purchased new by me in 1974 T top for $5,400.00 off the show room floor!
Thanks in advance......................................John

Can you leave the original battery positive and negative cables in place and then connect the alternator output wire to the positive starter terminal and the ground to any convenient ground connection?
