Default Extortionists Using Social Media to Target Victims

Just saw an article about extortionists using social media to scam people. They create fake accounts, befriend victims, and then threaten to leak private info or photos unless paid. It’s crazy how they manipulate trust on platforms like TikTok or Facebook. Has anyone dealt with this? How do you protect yourself?

Yes, it’s really unsettling how common this is becoming. These scammers are skilled at gaining trust quickly and then turning it against you. I always keep my profiles private, avoid clicking unknown links, and never share sensitive info online. Strong passwords and two-factor authentication are a must. I found this guide super useful on staying safe https://inglishe.com/best-5-ways-to-...-blackmailers/ Definitely worth a read if you want extra protection tips!

Yup, it’s a growing problem. The article said scammers scrape public posts to craft believable threats, like mentioning your job or family. I’ve seen bots push sob stories to guilt-trip people. Always verify accounts, don’t accept random friend requests, and use two-factor authentication. Platforms need to crack down harder on these fakes!
