80mm BBK TB Install
Hay everybody! I need some help...but what else is new eH?! [8D]I'm in the process of installing a 80mm BBK Throttle Body on my 2000 C5 but on the stock TB there are torx style screws that I cannot get off. I'm talking about the ones that hold in the "by-wire" electornics. The screws are torx but have the nipple that is in the center of the pattern; I've heard these refered to as "safety screws". Anybody know where to get the tool to remove these or how I can get around them? Thanks in advance!

Hey Pewter, You need a tamper-proof torx,... have you tried Auto Zone or Napa? I'm sure Snap-On would have what you need. I would think any place that sells quality tools should have it. As far as getting around them, you could try a small centerpunch, to knock the tips off, but I would exhaust trying to find the right tool before resorting to that

I call 'em inverted Torx head. I call 'em sumthin' else too[:@][sm=icon_quiet.gif][sm=smiley35.gif]when I find 'em, but I'm tryin' to work on that too[sm=devilangel.gif].
They ARE 6 sided, so a socket will work. You'll have to find the best-fitting metric or standard, and when you do, there's no round-off hazard. If you don't have both, better get the right tool...
