Floor Board Heat
Hi
Was wondering if anyone could recommend a material to lower the radiant heat that emits through the fiberglass floor boards from the exhaust pipes.
Any tricks or home brews appreciated, tried a search and came up empty.
Thanks

Hey jetnoise,
There is a full set kit available from EKLERS. Price about $155.00 plus shipping.
Home remedies.........try the local hardware store, ask about heat barriers (insulation) for behind stoves? There is a foil backed insulation for ducting. About 1/2" thick and comes in rolls.

i bought some at pepeboys. its a jute padding with a foil backing it cost $20 and it was a 4'x6' piece. cant tell you how good it works i havent put the car back together yet. but it does state that it blocks 90% of radiant heat.

Any foil back padding or insulation will work fine. Dyno-mat is good but it's expensive. Hardware supply stores sell a great product for water heaters, AC ducts, etc. It's an insulation with foil backing on both sides. I have this in my 1952 car, and know several people that use it as well, and it works great. Simply use a spray adhesive to glue it down.

I found some at the hardware store also. its made for ac ducting, water heaters, etc its about 1/4 inch thick. it basically looked like bubble rapping with foil on both sides. the stuff i got at pepeboys seemed alot better for our application. IMO.
