I'm wondering if replacing my tan convertible top is
a job I can do at home. I'm not a mechanic but can
follow instructions if clear.
I have a polo/tan '93 corvette convertible and the top
has black marks at the spars and corners that I cannot
get out.

From what I have read, it is possible to do it yourself. It isn't easy though. When I bought my 93 almost two yers ago now,it had a new tan top installed. I have noticed over the past few months that there are black marks appearing where the spars are located also. If the top is in good condition otherwise, I would just leave it alone as the black marks seem to be a normal occurance with a light colored top. Good luck.

I'd try to give it another shot at cleaning before I throw money into a new top right away if it's not torn.
