side pipes
i am reserecting a 68 427 4spd convertible. the previuos owner purchased stainless steel side pipes for it. i have installed the pipes, but they are a little louder than i would like. the engine is a 390 hp version. i had to bore it out .040 over to get rid of the pits in the cylinder. i used flat top pistons, a mild cam with the stock heads. my point is that the engine is not all that hopped up and the pipes almost make it sound like the muffler fell off. the engine runs great, but i have a few ideas to quiet it down. like making up my own version of the "supertrap" set up or, completly removing the chamber area and just weld in a glass pack that will fit under the fiberglass cover. i want to keep it a simple as posible. i would appreciate any input. i know the 68 did'nt have side pipes, but i want them.
