sound systems
Hello everyone my name is Mike. I am currently restoring my 72. Need some input on the best sounding stereo and speakers to install. Do not want to change the bezel for the radio so it will have to be a retro fit. There are a number of differnet options for this but I wanted some input from someone who has a system they really reccommend. Same for the in dash speakers. Lots to choose from but want to install the best available. Suggestions on rear speakers would also be a plus. Thanks

Dude. Just throw a grand or so into some Hooker sidepipes. Then your only concern with the stereo will be "is it loud enough to hear over my engine?". Quality of stereo in a C3 should just be a factor of volume!! Of course, if you want to really go high class, a good 8track player will keep your car period-accurate, about $50 for a good one on eBay, and you'll want to keep those tinny sounding old speakers for full effect.

(and yes, I have a still-sealed-in-the-box 1975 Audiovox 8track waiting on the shelf for my Bricklin)

You can buy anything on eBay. Off topic, but when we moved into the new house, we discovered that it had a working 25 year old intercom system with the high-tech stereo option. Wow, music piped all through the house! There was another box on the wall next to it, so I flipped it down, and sure enough... 8 track player! I actually do have a pile of 8tracks for the Bricklin, so we fired up some Earth Wind and Fire, some good "best of" disco tapes, and some Deep Purple for the movers' amusement.
Finding the recordable blank tapes is getting to be reeeeally tough though. If anyone knows where to get some of them in decent condition, I'm in the market.
The final plan is to gut the 8 track mechanism and make an RCA-jack docking arrangement for an MP3 player. Then I'll turn an 8 track cartridge into a case for my MP3 player, using the audio adapter with the male RCA jacks buried where the tape rolls through. Stealth. Very retro. Thinking about putting in my XM/MP3 Inno that way.

Sadly, I still have a really nice 8-track tape player external sealed in a hradwood box. Component. Also, quite a few 8-tracks. Even one of those old recievers that ways like 100#. I boxed these up a long, long time ago.
There they sit in the basement next to my old phonograph (record player) and my old VIC-20 computer system with the cassette tape drive. MO POWER
