trouble shoot 1996 corvette
i have a 1996 corvette and recently the low coolant light came on and all my coolant was dumped. i then refilled radiator and reservoir and 2 weeks later dumped it again. anyone have suggestions or experienced this. i have 100,000 miles and never had problems with it.
Check your engine oil if the oil color is normal.
If it looks like light chocolate milkshake, it's a sign of a blown head gasket.
If coolant ends up on the road, it's a bad hose, water pump leaking from the shaft's seal, a pin hole in the radiator, coolant reservoir bottle leaking or a defective radiator cap.
A friend of mine worked on a later model GM V8 (I have a C3 Corvette) and found coolant leaking from the seals in the rear coolant transfer tubes in the back of the heads (What a place to put the tube !!! ...he had a bear of time fixing the leak).
Hope this helps.
