Default 1967 Corvette

Hi Folks; I'm Keith and the proud owner of a '67 327-300 convertable. Unfortunately I'm not the most mechanically-inclined in the bunch, but I'm trying. I just cleaned my (brass) fuel filter which I believe was dirty because car now idles where before the cleaning it bogged down and stalled within 20-30 seconds after starting. I generally drive it every 2-3 weeks during the winter, but this past winter it sat a bit longer. I put some STP in the gas when I first noticed the car running rough. Incidently the engine was rebuilt last fall, and the my Holley 4160 4 barrel was rebuilt the year before. It ran grrrrreat when I put it away in December '05, and was even running fine in March '06. It sat for a month and 1/2 after March, and when I brought it out in May, thats when I first noticed the rough running and noticeable vibration under acceleration...not the clear, smooth accelaeration I had in the fall. Can anyone help???

Wecome to CF.
A '67 Vette, how cool!!!
That period of in-activity can do two things, One, your fuel can go bad and cause clogging of small orafaces in the carb and filter. Two, carb gaskets can dry and cause air leaks to develope. A month and a half doesn't seem long enough for these to take place, but as you stated, after cleaning the fuel filter the car ran better, it sounds suspicious to me. Add an in-line filter and this will help keep the brass screen filter clean. I'm haven't used STP myself, I use STAY-BIL (sp). Hope this helps.

Got your PM. You're welcome. That's why we're here, to help eachother out. We have guys here that can write books and books on Vettes. There is probably a collective experiance here of a couple of hundred years. (or more)
Again, Welcome to CF. Post some pics, we love Vette ****, LOL!!!
