1ST TIME
Just joined the forum! My wife and I are the proud owners of a '70 coupe, 300hp/350, AT, Mulsane Blue. It is our 1st project car and we are really excited. The car has approx. 85000 miles on her and is in need of tender loving care (she sat in a barn for 3-4yrs.). We have it up and running, but I have a lot of things I want to do to it. I have a lot of book knowledge but not a lot of practical application experience, so I will be asking a ton of questions hopefully not to dopey. We are really looking forward to our C3 adventure!

Hi PTA, welcome to the forum, you"ll meet a lot of nice and helpfull people, all with the common interest of playing with our Vettes,
So tell us how you got the car, how many times you drove it in the first 24 hours. What engine, what trany. Is it red? And how do you decide who drives?PG.

RE: 1ST TIME
I found the car in the classifieds here. I had looked at 74 454/4 speed car and was hot to trot on that for a while , but my cfo and I discussed it and we really wanted a chrome bumper car. Well the price of c2's is out of this world, so we settled on 68-72 c3. So off we went and just like most 1st time Vette buyers we bought the 1st one saw. Paid a little more than we should have, and I missed some things that will be expensive to fix. But, what the hey, it is only money. So we intend to build a resto mod out of this dude. Planning on VBP GTS suspension, 425hp/383 stroker, overdrive on the th400, 3.70 rear end, and try to keep it as stock looking and sounding as possible. It really throws you into that retro 1970's thing. It is a blast, and she lets me do most of the driving! There is nothing like taking that thing out for a thrity minute spin after a long day at the office to take the edge off.

Hi PTA, your right most people buy the first they see. If you went to the animal shelter and saw the cutest puppy, you would take him home. You found your dream puppy (a crome bumper C-3). Besides you have a good attitude, remember it's only money, and to help you spend some of that money here is a partial list of companys that sell parts for your new toy:
corvettesmerica.com
DocRebuild.com
corvettecentral.com
ecklers.com
mamotorworks.com
paddockparts.com
riksvet.com
VBand P.com-sounds like you have that one already.
volvette.com That will give a good start.
Some other books that you'll need are:
The Haynes repair manual-at most auto parts stores.
You didn't mention the year of your car so get a service manual for your year,
and you'll need a shop manual, one book covers all 66 thru 82's (motorbooks.com)
and the assembly manual for your year.
I came across a book called "How to restore & modify your Corvette, by R.Newton-motorbooks.com. He restored his crome bumper C-3 to look stock on the outside but with all the latest in most other areas. I enjoyed it you might too.
As far as that thirty minute ride, that's what it's all about. I live about two hours from Riks corvette parts, one nice day I needed a part, they said it will cost $15.00 to ship it, I just spent the $50. bucks on fuel and went to get it. Don't give me a reason to go for a ride. Best To you both, Pete.
