Default 74 Stingray

Hi everyone.

I've beena Corvette owner for all of 4 days. Never knew there was a Corvette forum. I'm a huge Laker fan (my name should give that away) and visit a Laker forum all the time. A Corvette forum is pretty cool (and I love the layout of this site).

My father-in-law surprised my wife and me with a 1974 Corvette Stingray on Tuesday. He drove it on a trailer from Washington State to Oklahoma. We had no idea he was giving it to us. Is that cool or what?

Anyway, just wanted to say hi and I look forward to getting involved in these forums.

Thanks for the welcome.

A little history on my father-in-law. He was a helicopter pilot during Vietnam. After the war, he got out and bought a 66 Corvette. In 2001 he found out he had a very aggressive tumor behind his heart - caused by the Agent Orange in Vietnam. He was given a year to live. He gave his son the Corvette and gave my wife and I his Porche 911 Turbo.

A year later he went into remission and we decided to give him back the Porche since he was doing good. Fast forward 5 years and we were visiting my brother-in-law and saw the Corvette. He let it go. Hasn't done anything with it. My wife told her dad he should've given it to us since we could afford to maintain it. This got him thinking he should've given it to us. Too late for that, but he went out and bought one and drove it out, like I said.

The corvette has the hard top, a white soft top, is fire engine red, 4 speed, and runs great. Being a new Corvette owner and being really dumb when it comes to cars, I have no idea about the engine size.

I have to send pictures to the insurance agent so I'll be out washing it tomorrow. Afterwards I'll post some pictures. Maybe you guys can help me determine what it has.

Again, thanks for the welcome and I already love this site. Some great photos in the gallery and lots of good general info.

Do you guys ever get together or belong to a Corvette club ???
